Well the trophies are home! And we are super proud of our WA Men’s and Women’s teams who along with some silverware, found themselves getting many places in the CAST Championship Merit sides for the Team of the tournaments
For the Women’s, 9 out of the 18 players were from our great state. Dominant try scorers Zion Taurima and Samantha Treherne led the way, with halfback Thompson proving she is still the one to beat at this level. Claudia Foster and Macey Simpkins earned their spots up front, while Horner and Young were the backrow stars for the WA stars. Joining them on the interchange was firebrand Mahinaarangi Clair and the dangerous Ruby Hodgson. But to us, we would have the whole 20 in this squad!

And in the Men’s team, WA had 7 players named in the CAS Merit Team, a great effort but there were also some hard luck stories. Led by scintillating captain Kainoa Gudgeon, livewire winger and hero Manfred Kelly was right there alongside. Blockbuster centre Eli Beattie was honoured along with mercurial half Jeremy Wallace. And inspirational front rower Ezra Taomia was named in the front row. Try scorer Bailey Millar and the ageless Edward Proudler both made the side on the interchange. But bitterly unlucky to not make selection were a host of other players, led by the tireless Chris Siddons and professional Roydon Gillett, who were enormous for the WA side.
