Get Off The Fence – Rd Three Preview

WA Smarter than Smoking Premiership Rd 3 Review

Joondalup Giants vs North Beach Sea Eagles

It’s the Northern Derby people and a lot of feeling will be involved in this one. Joondalup will be hosting their first home game of the year to their traditional rivals and the Giants won’t take a back step. With newcomer Logan Houghton leading the charge, they will look to get physical early and win the battle in the middle of the field. Look for stand-off Jeremy Browne to get more involved as the forward packs tire out. With a huge turnover of players this year, the Sea Eagles will be looking to Gershom Adams and Ben Taylor to muscle up and keep them in the contest. Both teams will be hungry to get that 2nd win on the trot after mixed starts to the competition. Newcomer Joshua Toole is turning heads quickly with his enterprising play and will need to be shut down.

Kalamunda Bulldogs vs Rockingham Sharks

The Bulldogs host the Sharks in Ellenbrook this weekend, as a part of their shared program this year with the Rabbitohs, and its exciting times to see grade rugby league being played in the North-Eastern Suburb of Perth. Improvement is the key word for the Bulldogs as they look to get better every week in this competition. Look for Willz Tuheke-Wade to lead his troops with strong running. For the Sharks, complacency will be key, as after a heartbreaking 2 point loss to the Lions, they will be looking to maintain their high standards. Pocket Rocket Stephen Widders has speed to burn and has scored 5 tries already this year and he will be looking to add a few more this weekend.

South Perth Lions vs Fremantle Roosters

Two rounds in and only the Lions are undefeated in the NRLWA competition. They will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run when they host the electrifying Fremantle Roosters. On the back of no nonsense forwards Mason Hiko and Scott Jones the Lions tend to control the pace of the game and frustrate teams with no mistakes and great line speed. Will it be enough to hold the high octane offence of the Chooks? Missing a few stars and a couple of early injuries and the Chooks wheels feel off enough for the Giants to grab the result last week. But it’s all hands on deck this week for the Roosters. Look for dynamic winger Alan Cowan. If he gets his hands on the ball often, he will cause headaches for the defence on the back of quick play the balls from ANZAC reps Bjorn Crotty and Bradley Gibson.
