Fremantle v Joondalup: #WARoostersGiants #WomenInLeague

Are the Fremantle Roosters the real deal or are they flat track bullies? We all know what they are capable of when their expansive, attack from anywhere style clicks into gear, but with another wet day forecast for Saturday, can they adapt their game and prove they are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the tough stuff in the middle of the park against the never say die Joondalup Giants. Prior to the break Joondalup looked the team most at risk of dropping out of the top 4, but two weeks back and they are once again starting to get a sniff of a top 2 finish. An inspired second half defensive effort won them the day against the Lions and they looked beaten when down 26-16 against the competition favourites in Rockingham last week, before fighting back to snatch a draw. With Logan Houghton in great form and Christian Smith controlling the pace of games with a clever kicking game, the Giants will bring many of the same weapons that North Beach used to win last week. The question will be whether the Roosters can find a way to defend and counter with some of their own weapons. Be sure to tune into the YouTube live stream available from the NRL WA website for this women in league match of the round.

Rockingham v South Perth: #WASharksLions #WomenInLeague

Live Streamed from 3.20pm Thanks to SHARKS TV and NRL WA Media Partner – Local Media Services Company

It’s not often that a team limps to top spot on the ladder, but after claiming the number one position with a draw it feels like the Sharks didn’t snatch it with quite the statement they would have liked to make. They will have the advantage of back to back home games as they look to send a more emphatic message against the Lions. Anthony Bowman will be a 50/50 chance of making his return for this clash and will be given until just before kick off and he would make a big difference to the Sharks line up. The Sharks forwards seemed to have all sorts of problems handling Logan Houghton and Shannon Coleman will be hoping to give them similar headaches this weekend. Fresh from a 100 point win over the Bulldogs the Lions will be looking to build towards a crescendo by the business end of the season. If Geordie Connelly is not back this weekend expect PK Te Wara to cause all sorts of problems for Ian Wood on the edge. Every game is vital at this point of the season and this game is no exception as teams fight for ladder position and no team has secured their spot in the finals yet.

North Beach v Kalamunda: #WASeaeaglesBulldogs #WomenInLeague

North Beach saved their season with a fantastic win over the ladder leading Roosters last weekend, but they will need to repeat that week in week out for the rest of 2017 if they are to defend their 2016 premiership. It would be very easy for Matt Doeg’s boys to relax with the winless Kalamunda Bulldogs standing against them this weekend, but if they start counting chickens in this game and put their focus towards the Giants next week they could well find their season torn to shreds by the Bulldogs.
