Harvey Norman 7’s Premiers Kalamunda Bulldogs

Rockingham Shark’s Franklin Offshore Sportplex home ground hosted the 2012 WARL Harvey Norman 7’s last weekend. In what turned out to be a terrific day of Rugby League with a large crowd enjoying the fast open 7’s football.

The earlier part of the day saw the WA Reds SG Ball team going down to the Manly Sea Eagles after leading at halftime 14 – 10. Final score 36 – 14 in a one sided second half. Reds Coach Daniel Green was furious with the performance of his players in the second half. Most frustrating is the team has the ability and competes week after week but the desire looks to to be lacking at times.

The 7’s tournament was played in 36 OC heat with all teams putting on a great spectacle. The teams setting the pace early was South Perth, South West and Kalamunda. The Championship final went down to the last few seconds with Souths leading 26 – 22. Kalamunda threw the ball wide deep in their own territory for once last shot at glory and how it payed off the Bulldogs went the length of the field to snatch the game and the $2500 winners cheque.

In the Plate Final the Willagee Bears were the victors over the South West Warriors.

Next week we turn our attention to the Harvey Norman Pre season with games played at Ken Allen Field, Fremantle and Charles Riley reserve, North Beach. Fixtures will be available on the website shortly.
