Importance of Sportsmanship in Rugby League

A reminder of the importance of sportsmanship in Rugby League

As we lead into the final stages of competition and finals across  Western Australia we ask you to remind your club members that junior players across our great sport participate for pleasure and mateship.

All participants in the game of Rugby League including players, coaches, trainers referee, club administrators, volunteers and spectators are encouraged and expected to:

  • Display positive acts of sportsmanship.
  • Discourage all instances of foul play or acts of violence, both on and off the field.

While fulfilling their role, coaches and trainers have the obligation to always strive to create a positive environment that is fun, safe, and inclusive. It is important that they respect and remember that referees play an integral role in our great game and as we support our young players through their Rugby League journey, we need to be equally as supportive of our referees.

With all that has happened throughout the world in 2020, we are extremely grateful that we were still able to get our great game up and running. So enjoy the final stages of competition, and win or lose, ensure your club and teams end the season on the right note.
