As you all may be aware, On 9 March 2021, the Board for School Sport Australia met to review the 2021 national sporting championship program. The Board determined that due to the ongoing volatility of COVID-19 and the complexity that this may cause for teams travelling interstate, all planned 2021 national events are now cancelled.

As a result, the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Council with the support of the National Rugby League (NRL), has made the decision to cancel the 2021 joint National Championships for 15 and 18 Years Rugby League that were to be held at Redcliffe, Queensland from July 1 2021.

With this in mind please see below where both NRL WA and School Sport WA are aiming to provide an experience to the players selected in the State representative squads chosen from our own 2021 Junior State League Championships,

Under 12’s

  • NRL WA and SSWA is aiming to provide an experience to the players selected in the state squad this year, the below 20 players have been selected in the squad which will take part in a proposed training camp at a date to be confirmed. The idea will be to enable the team to bond as a group through training and other activities, as well as to play a number of competitive games against other teams which will be advised at a later date. Obviously this is currently a proposed idea and is subject to change. NRL WA and SSWA will be in discussion about this experience and would like to have something formalised in the very near future.

Please note under the NRL Player Development Framework under 12’s is played as a non competitive age group.
