North Beach Club President Dale Lofts said the recent week of events to celebrate the Club’s 60th anniversary was a huge success with hundreds of people turning out for the social activities as well as the junior and senior games.
“It was fantastic to see so many ex-players and members coming across from interstate and overseas to participate,” he said.
“Highlights of the week included some great games of rugby league against South Perth and Joondalup.
“Foxtel’s BareFoot Rugby League show attended and will show highlights from the game on the program in coming weeks.
“We made presentations to our two newest Life Members; Steve Buck and Martin Laurie; and also acknowledged a number of our current players and coaches who have been with the club since early juniors.
“The Club is proud of our junior players; with more juniors continuing through to play in the senior ranks for North Beach than any other Club in WA.
“It was a fitting time with so many Sea Eagle players and supporters present at the 60th Anniversary Cocktail evening to announce the first of our North Beach Club Legends.
“Two outstanding players from the early decades of the Club were selected, having met strict selection criteria and their achievements are at the highest level, not just at this Club, but in the state level of the game as well.
“The Club is very proud of the achievements of our Club Legends; Harry Rayner and Eddie Campbell.
“We’d also like to thank our players, members and sponsors as well as the WARL and the whole WA rugby community for their support during our anniversary week.”
