NRL WA RETURN TO TRAINING GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY RUGBY LEAGUE IN WA  – FROM MONDAY 18TH MAY

IN LINE WITH THE WEST AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT’S COVID-19 PHASE 2 ANNOUNCEMENTS, NRL WA CAN CONFIRM THAT A “RETURN TO TRAINING” IN SMALL GROUPS IS NOW PERMITTED.

HOWEVER,IT WILL STILL BE SOME TIME BEFORE A “RETURN TO PLAY” CLEARANCE WILL BE GRANTED WITH A NUMBER OF GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS NEEDED TO BE LIFTED BEFORE THIS STAGE CAN BE REACHED.

 

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE NRL , IN LINE WITH THE AIS RECOMMENDATIONS, HAS COMPILED A VERY DETAILED COMMUNITY “RETURN TO PLAY” GUIDE THAT WILL BE MADE WIDELY AVAILABLE TO THE WA RUGBY LEAGUE COMMUNITY WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK.

NRL WA RETURN TO TRAINING  – CRITICAL PROTOCOLS :

  • BEFORE ANY WA RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB CAN RESUME TRAINING DURING THE PHASE 2 PERIOD,  THE WA GOVERNMENT COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN MUST BE READ , UNDERSTOOD & COMPLETED BY A NOMINATED CLUB OFFICIAL &  RETURNED TO THE NRL WA GENERAL MANAGER at jsackson@nrl.com.au

  • THIS COVID-19_Sport-and-Recreation Safety Plan IS A DOCUMENT TO ENABLE YOUR CLUB TO PLAN & PREPARE FOR HOW YOUR OFFICIALS , PARTICIPANTS & PARENTS WILL BE KEPT SAFE IN A RUGBY LEAGUE TRAINING ENVIRONMENT DURING THIS COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
  • CLUBS/TEAMS MUST STRICTLY ADHERE TO THE 20 PARTICIPANT MAXIMUM [INCLUSIVE OF COACHING/ TRAINING STAFF] AS PER THE CURRENT WA GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS AND ABIDING BY THE “GET IN, TRAIN , GET OUT” PRINCIPLE.
  • STRICTLY NO PHYSICAL CONTACT BETWEEN PLAYERS IS ALLOWED.THIS MEANS NO TACKLING , NO SCRUMMAGING & NO GAME SIMULATION.
  •  SOCIAL DISTANCING OF 1.5M MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES – ENSURE ONLY 1 PERSON PER SQUARE METRE.
  • NO ACCESS TO CLUB ROOMS ,CHANGEROOMS OR WET AREAS IS PERMITTED
  • FOOTBALLS CAN BE USED , BUT STRICTLY NO USE OF WEIGHTS,TACKLE BAGS ,BUMP PADS OR SIMILAR DURING TRAINING SESSIONS.
  • A REGISTER OF ALL TRAINING PARTICIPANTS AT EACH SESSION MUST BE MAINTAINED & PROVIDED TO NRL WA OR HEALTH AUTHORITIES UPON REQUEST.
  • CLUBS MUST ENSURE THAT GENERAL HYGIENE PRACTICES  INCLUDING THOROUGH WASHING OF HANDS & USE OF HAND SANITISER ARE STRICTLY ADHERED TO BY ALL TRAINING TEAMS & MANAGEMENT.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE ABOVE PROTOCOLS CANNOT BE IMPEMENTED / ACHIEVED ,THEN TRAINING SHOULD NOT PROCEED.
  • NRL WA STRONGLY ENCOURAGES THAT THE Covidsafe-app IS ADOPTED BY CLUBS & ALL PARTICIPANTS TO ASSIST WITH VIRUS TRACKING.
  • A MAXIMUM OF 2 SEPARATE GROUPS OF 20 IS PERMITTED TO TRAIN ON ANY ONE STANDARD INTERNATIONAL SIZE RUGBY LEAGUE FIELD, AT ANY ONE TIME, WITH EACH OF THESE TWO GROUPS TO BE ALLOCATED SPACE AT EACH END OF THE TRAINING FIELD. NO CROSS- SQUAD CONTACT IS ALLOWED.
  • CLUBS MUST ROSTER A STAGGERED TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR THE GROUPS OF 20 THAT MAY INCLUDE DIFFERENT START TIMES , DAYS &/OR LOCATIONS. PARTICIPANTS MUST REMAIN IN THE SAME TRAINING GROUPS & MUST NOT SWITCH SQUADS.
  • ALL EFFORTS TO BE MADE TO ENSURE THERE IS A REASONABLE MARGIN OF TIME BETWEEN SESSION START TIMES TO RESTRICT THE RISK OF GROUP CROSSOVER AT THE SAME VENUE.
  • AS NO CHANGEROOMS / CLUBROOMS WILL BE AVAILABLE , PLAYERS/PARTICIPANTS SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE VENUE READY IN TRAINING KIT.
  • SPECTATORS MUST BE LIMITED AT CLUB TRAINING SESSIONS AND THOSE IN ATTENDANCE MUST STRICTLY ABIDE BY 1.5M SOCIAL DISTANCING.
  • IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL CLUB PLAYERS, COACHES , VOLUNTEERS AND PARENTS ARE THOROUGHLY EDUCATED IN THE KEY PRINCIPLES OF THE “RETURN TO TRAINING”PROTOCOLS & THE ASSOCIATED HYGIENE PRACTICES REQUIRED FOR COMMUNITY RUGBY LEAGUE IN WA.
  • AS PART OF THE CLUB EDUCATION PROCESS THE FOLLOWING MUST BE UNDERTAKEN BY ALL NRL WA AFFILIATED CLUBS.
  • ALL COACHES , OFFICIALS & PARTICIPANTS MUST BE BRIEFED BY CLUB MANAGEMENT RE. THE “RETURN TO TRAINING” REQUIREMENTS TO ENSURE THEY REINFORCE AND IMPLEMENT THE PROTOCOLS ON A CONSISTENT BASIS.
  • WA GOVERNMENT / NRL WA COVID-19 INFORMATION MATERIAL TO BE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS AT EACH TRAINING LOCATION.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL CLUBS ARE RESPECTFUL OF ABIDING BY THE PROTOCOLS OUTLINED AS THEY FORM PART OF THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT DIRECTIONS, & SANCTIONS CAN BE APPLIED TO INDIVIDUALS & TO CLUBS IF THEY ARE IN BREACH.
