Perth Senior Results – Semi Finals

Women’s Premiership – Friday Night – Blueforce Park, Charles Riley Reserve, North Beach

6:40pm – Elimination Semi-Final
Joondalup Giants 26 def Kwinana Titans 14
Review – In a back and forth contest, the experienced Giants were too strong for the young guns from down south. The Titans to their credit fought extremely hard and never gave up, on the back of some strong performances from front rower Debra Vini, brilliant half Aliyah Tanonef and gun hooker Samantha Wood. But it just wasn’t enough as the experience pair of front rowers in Chanelle Edwards and Ese Tiakia dominated the middle of the field, and the positional change of Anneka Stephens proved a master stroke as she caused problems with the ball, and tighted up the Giants defensively. A strong victory for the Giants who know they have plenty of improvement in them. The Titans, while their season is over now, will be incredibly tough in the future, with the average age of the team just under 20 years old.

8:00pm – Major Semi-Final
Ellenbrook Rabbitohs 44 def North Beach Sea Eagles 6
Review – Well missing Trudy Whaanga and Caitlin Miller was always going hurt. The communication and movement for this young team stems from those two veterans. But it went from bad to worse when star strike player Tamika Jones went down early, and the North Beach shoulders seemed to drop. It wasn’t all doom and gloom as Sinead Loundes and Hineriu Thompson really tried hard. For Ellenbrook, they were class all over the field and just got on a roll. Ariana Hira-Herangi, Huia Swannell, Layna Nona-Busch and Sera Ah-Sam were brutal in their delivery and allowed their skill players in Amiria Clark-Manahi, Mahinarangi Clair and the classy Juraea Turner to just run the show. Huge potential in winger Tonesha Hogan who has a massive future in the game. A clinical performance from the Rabbitohs, while the Sea Eagles will need to get up off the canvas and get ready for the Giants next week.
