Roadshow 2014

The 2014 NRL Roadshow kicks off today (Wednesday 30th July) and is set to be the biggest one yet the Pilbara has seen. In its third consecutive year the Roadshow has now expanded and will include visiting the schools across Tom Price as well as have active involvement and participation with the communities across Karratha, Wickham and Hedland Regions.

Former NRL Superstars Shaun Timmins, Alan Tongue, Josh Perry and Petero Civoniceva are the NRL Ambassadors at this years event.

The focus of this years Roadshow event is spreading two key messages ‘Eat Well Play Well Stay Well’ and ‘What’s your State of Mind’.

The ‘What’s your State of Mind’ Campaign brings together Australia’s key mental health service providers under one umbrella to help break down stereotypes and stigmas in relation to mental health.
Rugby League is a physical sport and the physical effects are often seen on our players, however just like in society the mental effects are generally not able to be easily seen.
The aim of the program is to ensure a healthier environment with resultant positive.

The ‘Eat Well Play Well Stay Well’ program uses the game of Rugby League to encourage students to consider their own behaviours and attitudes towards leading a healthy, balanced life.
By examining their own life experiences and learning through Rugby League students can be empowered to make healthy lifestyle decisions now and in the future.

Other Highlights of the Week will be the NRL All Stars Touch Footy Challenge. In Karratha the 2 ambassadors along with a selection of local players will take on the Clontarf team in a touch footy challenge. Whilst in Hedland the NRL All stars will take on the YIC team.

The program is jammed pack and also includes appearances at the NRL Stall during Fenacling.

Keep up to date via the Pilbara Rugby League website and Facebook for all the excitement of the 2014 NRL Pilbara Roadshow.
