Pirates/WA Alumni Wrap 29/03/18

Waqa Blake

After scoring three tries in his first two games of 2018, Blake was kept at bay by the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs as his Penrith Panthers fell to a 20-18 loss last Friday.

Blake played the full game in the centres, running for 46 metres including a tackle bust while making 13 tackles himself.

The 23-year-old former Pirate SG Ball representative will again line up in the centres as Penrith take on the North Queensland Cowboys on Thursday night.

Adam Quinlan

Quinlan was voted Hull KR’s Man of the Match in a 30-6 loss to St Helens.

The 25-year-old former Pirate ran for a team-high 162 metres as he looked dangerous in attack.

The former St George Illawarra Dragon will again take his spot at fullback as Hull KR prepare for a local derby against Hull FC on Friday.

Bryson Goodwin

Goodwin played a starring role for the Warrington Wolves, scoring a try and kicking two goals in their 34-24 come-from-behind win over Wakefield Trinity on Saturday.

The former South Perth Lions centre looked good as he continues to make his way back from a knee injury which kept him sidelined for two weeks.

Goodwin is again expected to take his spot in the centres and take kicking duties when Warrington take on Widnes on Friday.

Kalyn Ponga

Despite an impressive start to life at the Newcastle Knights, Ponga was helpless in preventing his new side falling to a 38-8 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Sunday.

The Port-Hedland fullback kicked a penalty goal and conversion in the loss to finish with four points but will look to make more of an impact when the Knights travel to take on the unbeaten St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday.
