Roosters Snatch Try Fest In Freo

In what was billed to be a must win clash for both sides, the Fremantle Roosters held on for a 28-22 win despite a valiant Rockingham Sharks fightback.

The home side got off to a great start with livewire winger Billy Couglan twisting and turning to score in the corner but his try was answered shortly after when a loose ball was seized upon by the Sharks forwards.

Brayden Burdett then stunned the home fans with a try of his own that was easily converted between the sticks.

The roosters rallied and through man of the match Jordan Stringer, put another try on the board, but not before the full back’s efforts were again nullified by a Reece Potter try just before the half-time whistle.

Stringer collected the second of his two tries just moments after the restart before Luke Faulkner and Wellington Tuliloa gave the Roosters a 28-16 lead, the first clear break in the match.

Best on ground for Rockingham Ryan Wilson powered through for a late consolation for the visitors but Fremantle rode out the last few minutes of pressure from the Sharks to take home the two points.
