Round 15 Smarter Than Smoking Premiership PREVIEW

WARL journalist Justin Fris takes us through the Round 15 Preview of the First Grade WARL Smarter Than Smoking Premiership.

ROUND 15

South Perth vs Rockingham
Fremantle vs North Beach
Kalamunda vs Joondalup

ROOSTERS FACE MOMENT OF TRUTH

Fremantle face North Beach on Saturday at Ken Allen Field, in a match their faithful have awaited for weeks.

After solid showings against several contenders, we will finally see if the Roosters truly can match hardened opposition for 80 minutes.

Beach simply did as they pleased last week against Rockingham and will welcome a competitive contest away from home.

A Roosters win would see them close to within a point of second place.

Last time these two sides met, Beach ran out 34-14 winners.

GIANTS TAKE ROADSHOW TO KALAMUNDA

The Joondalup Giants will look to keep the heat on Fremantle and Willagee with a win over Kalamunda at Pioneer Park.

Easily the most entertaining team in the WARL, watching the Giants is a pleasure for anyone who truly appreciates rugby league.

Although last week’s 46-36 defeat wasn’t ideal, the brand of football produced was breathtaking.

Kalamunda were brave last week against South Perth and will be keen to maintain their competitive spirit.

Expect Caleb Reedy to continue his impressive form for the Giants and lift his side to victory.

LIONS AND SHARKS LOOK TO SHAKE COBWEBS

Both Rockingham and South Perth have slumped in form dramatically over the last month.

This Saturday’s clash at George Burnett Park begs the question: What will happen next?

Only Vincent Silulu could hold his head high last week, as the Sharks were mercilessly crushed at North Beach.

South Perth returned to winning ways last week, but ‘Barney’ Nixon will be hoping for a solid 80-minute effort.

The Lions typically enjoy the wide expanses of George Burnett Park, with their wingers often mistaken for mosquitos, such is their pace.

Expect the Lions to grind out a satisfying victory in front of their home supporters.
