ROUND 18 PREVIEW – WARL Smarter Than Smoking Premiership

ROUND 18 FIXTURES

North Beach v Joondalup – Charles Riley Reserve
South Perth v Willagee – George Burnett Park
Fremantle v Rockingham – Ken Allen Reserve

GIANT IMPRINT HANGS IN BALANCE

Joondalup’s season is on life support, ahead of its trip to North Beach at Charles Riley Reserve.

Another loss and a Willagee victory on Saturday and the Giants would require a mathematical miracle to play finals with three rounds left.

Beach trudged their way through the Kalamunda mud last week and would be feeling the effects of a taxing victory.

The Giants need to get physical early and make every tackle fiercer than the last.

A victory to Beach would almost guarantee a top-two finish.

INTRIGUING SOUTHERN SUBURBS BATTLE

South Perth will be keen to hit finals form early with a convincing victory over Willagee on Saturday at George Burnett Park.

The Lions have excellent depth in their squad, with ‘Barney’ Nixon giving all squad members a solid opportunity to prove themselves.

Willagee’s finals aspirations took a massive hit last week.

The Bears appeared disinterested at times against Fremantle and only played their best football when the game was out of reach.

A solid showing of their best football against the Lions could swing things back in their favour.

The Bears should be prepared to throw around the football and leave no stone unturned in search of victory.

ROOSTERS CROWING LOUD AHEAD OF SEPTEMBER

Fremantle entertain local rivals Rockingham on Saturday at Ken Allen Field.

The Roosters demolished Willagee last week and would be keen to add another notch on their belt.

Despite out of reach for finals, Rockingham would be keen to continue their late surge of good form.

Both sides have been impacted by key omissions in 2014, which has impacted their fortunes at times during the season.

With a deadly combination of wingers and forwards,  a Roosters victory would appear likely.
