Round One action kicks off this weekend

After a long break, the 2014 Smarter than Smoking Premiership kicks off this weekend with some blockbuster clashes and the brand new 2014 TDH Insurance WARL tipping comp to boot!

Fremantle v North Beach
Ken Allen Field, Hilton

Arguably, the game of the round as the two 2013 Grand Finalists go head to head at Ken Allen Field.

Both sides looked strong in pre-season and will be coming out firing to stake an early claim on the premiership trophy.

Andrew Korn and Ryan Gundry will have been well acquainted with each other after playing each other five times last year,  culminating in that 16-8 2013 Grand Final win at Ken Allen Field.

Rockingham v South Perth
Franklin Offshore Sporting Complex

South Perth travel this weekend to take on the Sharks who had quite a busy pre-season that also included a warmup match against the West Coast Pirates SG Ball side.

Both sides enjoy to play attacking Rugby League which often sees this game as one of the highlights of the Smarter Than Smoking WARL premiership calendar.

First year coach Justin Nixon however will have a welcome conundrum on his hands with four able halves to choose from going into this match.

Kalamunda v Joondalup
Pioneer Park, Forresfield

Both sides will be looking to improve on their fortunes in Round 1 after finishing well outside finals contention.

First time coach Frank Ah Kuoi has set about establishing a strong culture at the club, and is something that has shown in the sides pre-season hit outs.

Joondalup however, are always dangerous on their day and round one will be no exception, even if it is a home match for the Bulldogs.

All three matches should be great for the neutral in what is bound to be a blockbuster round of Rugby League action.

Get down there and support your team and get out your colours!
