WA Reds V North Sydney Bears

The Cash Converters WA Reds SG Ball team today embark on their campaign in the NSW competition. The SG ball team is lead by Head Coach Daniel Green with strong support from assistant coaches Andrew Korn and Angelo Tsakalos. The Strength and conditioning is once again headed up by Peak Body Health and fitness’s Tony Merrick and Roger Steward. The 2012 Reds began their path to SG Ball back in September with a series of trials. The interest in the SG Ball program has grown rapidly locally with many young players in Perth now  seeing a real pathway to the NRL through the WA Reds program. The WARL has made the commitment to the development of WA based juniors in 2012. This has seen 20 of the 25 man squad come out of WA this season, this in its self is a massive achievement to reduce our quota of eastern states players in just a short space of time.

We look forward to the 2012 season with both excitement and expectation as the club grows stronger and learns from experience the coaching staff raise the bar as to what results we expect this season. The squad has been doing the hard work four times a week since October. Last week the team played their first ever interstate trial game as part of their preparations against Melbourne Storm. The team came away with a hard fought win with South Perth ‘zip zip’ man Jordan Jacob scoring the winner to win 20 – 18.

Head Coach Daniel Green and his believe that finals football is certainly achievable this year, these aspirations will be tested tonight against North Sydney Bears.
