WARL welcomes partnership with Sedgman Ltd

The Western Australian Rugby League is delighted to announce a partnership with mining solutions company Sedgman Limited. The partnership between Sedgman and the WARL highlights the growing interest in Rugby League throughout Western Australia.

The partnership kicked off this month with Sedgman the major sponsor of the inaugural Pilbara NRL Roadshow, which featured Rugby League’s One Community Ambassadors and league legends Trent Barrett, Mario Fenech, Adam MacDougall and David Peachey as well as WARL Development staff.

Sedgman’s sponsorship also includes naming rights to the 2012 Pilbara Rugby League competition, the Sedgman Premiership, which is contested by five Clubs.

WARL CEO John Sackson said he is thrilled to welcome Sedgman Limited to the WARL’s expanding sponsorship family.

“Sedgman Limited is a growing international player in the mining services world and also has a proud history of supporting junior sports in Queensland.

“We are pleased to not only provide Sedgman with an effective means to help grow their corporate profile in WA, but also importantly to be able to assist them to enrich the Pilbara community by way of supporting Rugby League in the North West.

“Off the back of a strong ex-pat population in Karratha, Wickham, Port Hedland and Newman, the code already has strong foundations in the area and Sedgman’s enthusiasm and valuable investment will help accelerate awareness, interest and participation in the great game of Rugby League in this state.”

General Manager Western Australia for Sedgman Sten Soderstrom, said Sedgman had a culture of being actively involved in local communities.

“Our commitment to Rugby League in WA provides an important link to the Pilbara community and goes hand in hand with our expanding business investment in metals and iron ore in the region.

“We’re excited about our partnership with WARL and being part of the growth and development of Rugby League in the North West.”
